For most people, the points are the primary concern and rightly so because you will be paying any increased insurance premiums long after you have forgotten about the fine. Moreover, the New York DMV will impose a Driver Responsibility Assessment on all NY drivers that accumulate 6 or more points in any 18 month period. For 6 points, the assessment is $100 per year for 3 years and for every point over 6, there is an additional charge of $25 per point.

I was stopped and was ticketed by a policeman that is affiliated with the Elbridge Town Court on Highway 90, while I was on my way from Syracuse to NYC. The violation that I was cited for had to do with not moving to another lane when I saw a police car stopped on the side lane. Justice for Traffic Violations
